Enjoy the Ride
Two smaller projects for Scrappin Studio using the same Studio Calico stamp.
When I saw this cowgirl on a kit packing label, I thought immediately of pairing her with the sentiment stamp. They fit nicely on the Pebbles tag and, to emphasise the diagonal, I used two starbursts cut out of a Smash pocket.
As for the card, the design is an abstract representation of the bullet nose of a Eurostar train. I cut the tightly patterned teal paper into board stripes and created two layered V-shapes. The line of butterflies was added to breakup the strong geometrics and because I'm not really a clean-and-simple cardmaker at heart.
That's all I'll be doing with the April kits. Studio Calico's June kits are shaping up to be pretty exciting. Still unsure which add-on I'll be working with but I'm already sketching layout ideas for the main.

Bliss
Today is an exciting day. My projects for Artfull Crafts' are featured on the Teresa Collins Design Team blog, together with those of my friend and fellow designer Lowri McNabb. Here is one of the featured cards.
I haven't done quirky in while and this wedding card has reminded me how much fun it is to just play. A series of frames draw attention to the large sentiment tag daggling from a set of keys. Tangerine, my favourite shade of orange, is Pantone's 2012 Colour of the Year. Here I used it as a counter-weight to balance out the chipboard keys on the top.
Do you tend to stick to a single brand or collection when you make cards ? Or prefer to mix up your supplies ?

Travels
After my Venice and Hong Kong layouts I seem to have travel on my mind. So I thought I'd share this travel journal. The intention is to jolt down places I'd like to visit and things I'd like to see or do as I come across them.
That silhouette of the plane makes such an impact, I framed it very simply by sewing on some black embrodiary thread. Impact is not a font I use when making my own titles. However cut in half and elongated, the alphas look quite different and, well, impactful.
Here's another shot taken before I put glued the cover onto the journal. The row of half circles down the left serves to break up all those straight lines and angles. I like that it's subtly echoed by the ghostly clock face behind the airplane.

So far here's what's in my journal :
- Crete for Arthur Evan's recreation of the palace at Knossos
- Samarkand : Tamerlane's great silk route city
- Komodo National Park after reading about the famous dragons in Jamrach's Menagerie
